ASI unearths 4,000 cannon balls at Kannur fort
In what could be the biggest excavation of its kind in the country, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials unearthed thousands of cannon balls from St Angelo’s Fort here, a seaside citadel built by the Portuguese in 1505, and subsequently occupied by the Dutch, the British and also local Muslim rulers.
