SC sets aside HC order asking state to pay Rs 100 crore dam dues
In a setback to the state and a contractor who has been seeking payment of over Rs 100 crore in the Kondhane dam project near Karjat, the Supreme Court on Friday set aside a June order of the Bombay high court. The HC order would have required Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation (KIDC) to pay the contractor, FA Enterprises. The SC disposed of a special leave petition (SLP) filed by KIDC against the HC order. It sent the matter back to the HC after a Mumbai resident intervened to say the corporation and the contractor were trying to mislead the apex court.
