Bengal seeks Centre's nod to catch wild elephants
Ruling out any proposal to kill animals as in Bihar to save crops, the West Bengal government has sought the Centre's nod to catch wild elephants and not kill them to protect farmlands and lives of people. Bengal minister Binay Krishna Burman said wild elephants have killed over 100 people in the state last year.

Beijing records highest electric vehicle registrations
A total of 17,600 individual and company applicants submitted applications for EVs, about 5,000 more than the previous round, according to bjhjyd.gov.cn. Beijing plans to allow 60,000 new energy vehicles on the road this year, with 25,424 already assigned in the first two rounds, Xinhua reported.

Solar-powered airplane heads to New York City
The Swiss-made Solar Impulse 2 took off from Lehigh Valley International Airport late on Friday. It will soar over the Statue of Liberty and fly into New York City, landing at John F Kennedy International Airport on Saturday.
